Aruna Rao

Aruna Rao (she/her) is the proud parent of a transgender child who seeks to build a world where diversity of sexuality and gender is celebrated by all. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies, a US based organization that provides support, education and advocacy for diasporic LGBTQ+ South Asians and their families. She currently serves on the PFLAG National Board of Directors and has been featured on many forums and media outlets as a speaker about LGBTQ+ allyship and mental health. She has two decades of experience as a mental health advocate and non-profit leader, and her interests lie at the intersection of mental health and diversity.
