William Placek

He, Him, His

William has worked in the non-profit world for close to twenty years. During his tenure in his current job operating a medical/behavioral program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, William has had the opportunity to develop his skills in supporting individuals and families, making community connections, and relying on them to help support his organizational mission.

William joined PFLAG Jersey Shore in 2012 after the birth of his first son. William has always had a passion for helping families navigate the coming-out process in hopes of keeping families together. He began his time volunteering with PFLAG Jersey Shore as co-facilitator of our LGBTQ Toms River Support Meeting and overseeing fundraising & community outreach for the chapter. In November 2017, William was chosen as Interim President of the chapter after the previous President retired and then voted into the permanent role as President in 2018. William is an avid LGBTQ activist, sits on the chapter’s Speakers Bureau, helping to build a training and educational component to their symposiums in the community, and connects with community leaders to promote the mission of PFLAG Jersey Shore. William has worked to build up the board of the chapter with a great group of individuals bringing unique talents to further the mission and increase the chapter’s services and outreach to the community.

William lives along the shore in New Jersey with his 6-year-old son Grayson, and 8-year-old son Jaxon. William earned both his Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from Walden University and is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of New Jersey. When William is not working his full-time job or volunteering with PFLAG, he loves to spend time with his children at home or traveling to share new experiences with his two beautiful children.
